Just remembered that because of a challenge to read a graphic novel, I read Heartstopper: Volume One - actually the whole series, and just watched the Netflix version, which is largely set in an English secondary school. Kind of amazing that they still wear uniforms with ties and everything! It's a very sweet story, although rather unrealistic that hormonal teenage boys wouldn't progress beyond kissing. The series includes representations of multiple LGBTQ characters and addresses some serious mental health issues, so of course it's now being banned in some US schools, just where it might be most needed.

I enjoyed it. The characters are complex and flawed.

Magic for Liars is spectacular as well.

I definitely remember liking these titles back in the day.

Loved this one! I would also vote for the Harry Potter series, as well as the Gallagher Girls series by Ally Carter that starts with I'd Tell You I Love You, But Then I'd Have to Kill You.

message 18: by Thomas (new)

Thomas Harry Potter and although many of her fans consider it a low point I really enjoyed The Lying Game by Ruth Ware
