What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

Fiction/swords and sorcery. A courier that either rides a cat or a sled pulled by cats finds an old jar containing the ghost of a scholar. They travel together and at some point have to rescue a woman from a floating city. The book would have been written over 25 years ago as thats the first time I read them and I believe there was two or three in the series
