I love being part of the Mod's team - FLOAB Mods are the best :-)

2. What is the hardest part about being a Mod?
I don't like refusing completions because a book doesn't fit the task, so I usually try to find a way to still accept the book.

3. What is your favorite type of challenge - individual? Team? Long? Short? Other?
I prefer long challenges.
π- Read a book with a long word (10+ letters) in the title.
4. Which do you prefer more - making challenges or participating?
Both!
π- Read a book with a love triangle.

Challenges and buddy reads.
π-Read any book from buddy reads and participate in the discussion.
8. What is your favorite spot to hang out in the FLOAB group when not updating challenges?

1. What do you like most about being a Mod?
I like the team work of running fun challenges to encourage our group members to find time to read and to sometimes try books out of their regular comfort zone.
π- Read a book where a character tries a new activity.
2. What is the hardest part about being a Mod?
The hardest part of being a Mod is seeing our members get frustrated in partner and team challenges because one of the group just stops participating.
π- Read a book with a single person on the cover.
3. What is your favorite type of challenge - individual? Team? Long? Short? Other?
My favorite types of challenges are the team challenges. I love meeting new faces and seeing the wide variety of books they enjoy.

4. Which do you prefer more - making challenges or participating?
I love both equally.

My favorite tasks are finding images for the challenge posts and badges as well as making tasks.
π- Read a book with a beautiful cover. (your interpretation)
6. What is the funniest thing that you have experienced as a Mod?
Not funny per se, but I love seeing the creative answers that I sometimes get with tasks that I leave to the member's interpretation.
π-Read a book that makes you happy.
7. What is your favorite part of the FLOAB group? Buddy reads? Chat threads? Challenges? Bookshelf? Other?
Challenges, especially the team ones. It's fun to read and play together.
π-Read a book written by two or more authors.
8. What is your favorite spot to hang out in the FLOAB group when not updating challenges?
No favorite for me. I wander around looking at different parts as the mood strikes me.
π- Read a book where a character does something spontaneous. (your interpretation)
9. If there was one Mod duty you could pick never to do again, what would it be?
Never having to pm a member in a partner or team challenge that has disappeared. It always makes me frustrated for those who are trying to play.
π- Read a book where a character goes missing.
10. How would you describe what being a Mod is or feels like in 1 word?
Satisfying. It great to not only enjoy the challenges, but to give back and help others enjoy them as well.

Seeing what everyone is reading. Also working with the other mods.
π- Read a book from another member or mod's shelf.
2. What is the hardest part about being a Mod?
When members take a challenge ending or a post correction personally. Basically, whenever a member is mad at me - I can't handle conflict! :)

Short individual challenges, although I appreciate how much team challenges push me to read.
π- Read a book less than 250 pages long.
4. Which do you prefer more - making challenges or participating?
Ooooh, good question. I enjoy the creative process of making a new challenge, but all the practical stuff (formatting, badge creation, posting, etc) is real work. I love participating in challenges by other mods after seeing all the love that's gone into them behind the scenes.

π- Read a book that is the same genre as the current BOTM.

π- Read a book with only small items on the cover.
4. Which do you prefer more - making challenges or participating?
This is one of the most difficult balancing acts at least for me. I like them both, but as a Mod I need to spend more time behind the scenes, making and supporting challenges.
π- Read a book with an awesome side/supporting character.

π- Read a book with a researcher main character.

7. What is your favorite part of the FLOAB group? Buddy reads? Chat threads? Challenges? Bookshelf? Other?
My favorite part of the FLOAB group is the variety. There are so many things to choose from it's like going to an all you can read bar.
π- Read a book that has several plots going at the same time.

I like looking through the buddy reads, and I also love the thread we have when someone is looking for a book that meets specific challenge requirements.

With the changes in technology, making badges has become more difficult - but I do love a challenge.

1. What do you like most about being a Mod?
The creativity of it. It is everywhere, but especially in challenge making :)
π- Read a book with a creative cover (your interpretation).
2. What is the hardest part about being a Mod?
It takes up a lot of time, sometimes cutting into the reading time, but it's worth it, even when it is hard and there is a time pressure to get things done in time. I am late with my stuff on occasion and then I feel bad about disappointing our readers and holding things up.
π- Read a book where main character is under a time pressure.

Can you guess? The short, sweet, individual ones, of course. I have made them quite a specialty of mine ;)

4. Which do you prefer more - making challenges or participating?
Hard one. I don't know. Both? I can't pick, it is a thing with me :D
π- Read a book that is a standalone in a series.
5. What is your favorite Mod duty? E.g. making badges, writing rules, making tasks, finding information, etc.
I love everything, except writing challenge rules. If I am lucky, someone will always write them for me ;D

6. What is the funniest thing that you have experienced as a Mod?
Q&A threads, hands down. The things I have been asked...
π- Read a book with a question word in title (what, when, who, etc.) or a title that is a question in itself.
7. What is your favorite part of the FLOAB group? Buddy reads? Chat threads? Challenges? Bookshelf? Other?
Hmm... I am the organizer and the archivist (look at me giving myself new titles!) so I occasionally browse all over the group looking at how it is going and what else I could do to make it better. So I can't pick a favorite either, sorry :D
π- Read a book that has your favorite formatting or style in it - chapter titles, no chapter titles, verses, graphic novel, past/present narrative, etc.
8. What is your favorite spot to hang out in the FLOAB group when not updating challenges?
Yikes. The moment of truth. I don't hang around the group much unless I am doing something :D
Oh, I am probably there somewhere, but I am either updating my own challenges, or plotting and planning changes/updates, or working on something new already. I do hang around the team challenges I am in charge of to see how everyone is doing though. So if I have a competitive team challenge running, I am probably there, doing my best Casper impression :D
π- Read a book with a workaholic main character.
9. If there was one Mod duty you could pick never to do again, what would it be?
Writing challenge rules. Definitely. Rina does it better and can always translate my scribbles into something coherent :)

π- Read a book that has been discussed somewhere in the group.
2. What is the hardest part about being a Mod?
Time management, relying on others, and sometimes feeling guilty when normal life takes away from my Goodreads time. The limiting communication of mainly text. The limitations that have arisen due to spambots, such as only being able to make three threads per hour and only being able to comment s many times per hour. It is hard to set up new challenges with these limits.
π- Read a book where main character is under strict rules or limitations.
3. What is your favorite type of challenge - individual? Team? Long? Short? Other?
I make a lot of LONG challenges by accident. I am terrible at things on smaller scales. Team challenges are my favorite because I love to bring people together. I also love the challenge of trying to include as many different types of readers as possible in team challenges.

7. What is your favorite part of the FLOAB group? Buddy reads? Chat threads? Challenges? Bookshelf? Other?

Participating in challenges and Buddy reads :)

9. If there was one Mod duty you could pick never to do again, what would it be?

πWelcome to the second round of For love of a book's Modiversary! π
πModiversary - an anniversary of the date each Mod joined our wonderful team - goes into its second round.π
π The second round of Modiversary will be The Wheel of Favorites.
πEach mod will have a wheel with their favorites, e.g favorite movie, favorite song etc.
πSpin the wheel until you have 10 different favorites - respin if you get one that you already have.
πRead a book that represents the favorite from the wheel. You can use anything - covers, words in title, words in text, activities in the book, etc. Be creative, but make sure that your book represents the favorite in some way.
πDates for each Mod's Modiversary are varied. There will not be one every month and some months there might be several. We hope you have equal appreciation for each Modiversary anyway ;)
π You will have 12 months to celebrate each Modiversary, by completing its tasks. If the Modiversary is in July 2024, then you will have until July 2025 to finish its tasks.
π Participation will be in each thread, reserve a post for your tracking and collect the badge after you have completed all tasks.

1. What do you like most about being a Mod?
I don't really see myself as a creative person, so I love that being a mod pushes me to do more creative things. Also, I've really liked getting to know my fellow mods and helping them out!
π- Read a book where someone is pushed to try something new.
2. What is the hardest part about being a Mod?
When you have a really cool idea in your head and it just doesn't work out the way you expect it to.
π- Read a book where someone's plans fall through.
3. What is your favorite type of challenge - individual? Team? Long? Short? Other?
I've only ever made a short individual one so I don't know yet! As far as playing, I've made some really good friends here on GR and love to do Team Challenges with them!
π- Read a book where someone has an online friend.
4. Which do you prefer more - making challenges or participating?
Anyone that knows me knows I'm a challenge junkie. I'm currently in 16 different team/partner challenges. I enjoy making challenges a lot, but participating is more of a need for me.
π- Read a book where someone has an obsession.
5. What is your favorite Mod duty? E.g. making badges, writing rules, making tasks, finding information, etc.
I like making badges. It's odd, because I don't collect them, but there is something so satisfying about getting everything exactly right.
π- Read a book where the MC's profession has a badge.
6. What is the funniest thing that you have experienced as a Mod?
I agree with my fellow mods, it's always funny to see the wildly creative interpretations of tasks!
π- Read a book and rate it the same rating as one of your friends.
7. What is your favorite part of the FLOAB group? Buddy reads? Chat threads? Challenges? Bookshelf? Other?
Always challenges! Even before I was a mod FLOAB had my favorite team challenges, so now that I see how much work goes into them I love them even more.
π- Read a book tagged "favorite".
8. What is your favorite spot to hang out in the FLOAB group when not updating challenges?
If I'm not updating the challenges then I'm probably participating in them. Occasionally I'll pick up a buddy read if it's something I really want to read.
π- Read a book you really, really wanted to read.
9. If there was one Mod duty you could pick never to do again, what would it be?
There have been I think two times where I have had to tell someone their book doesn't work for a task or fit guidelines and I absolutely hated it every time. I would LOVE to never do it again.
π- Read a book where someone is rejected.
10. How would you describe what being a Mod is or feels like in 1 word?
FUN!
π- Read a book tagged "fun".
