Patterson escapes within the hospital, and a gunfight erupts. Max hides Ellie in a closet, but when she sees Patterson with a gun held to an FBI agent’s head, she reveals herself to save the agent’s life. Before anything more happens, Max shoots and kills Patterson. Why is Max so upset with Ellie for making herself a target. Did she have any other option? Thoughts?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments She might have been able to distract Patterson some other way, like by throwing something at him, but Ellie wanted to be sure that he refocused his attention on her. She always planned to dive out of the way, but that could have gone wrong. She simply couldn't let another person be killed like that.

Jessica | 156 comments I liked the ending. Sometimes the author makes the heroine do something stupid in order to put her in a bad situation but in this case, I don't think it was stupid. The agent was about to be killed. Ellie did what she does, save lives. She is a consistent character throughout.
