If you haven’t read any of the later books in this series, skip this question!

This novella was written after eight books had been released. Did it answer all the questions you had about their first encounter? Does it have a different feel now that you’re reading it before the original start of the series?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments Question skipped. I read the first book, Didn't like it and didn't continue the series. I honestly don't remember much.

It did answer all the questions I had about how Sam and Nick first met. It always bothered me not knowing how they became so strongly connected. I have a feeling it will completely reshape my opinion of the first book.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I read the first couple of books, but I don't remember any questions I had. I was angry because I thought the first two books were too much like Eve and Roarke. It turned me off.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments I read the first couple of books, but I had the feeling that the same trope was ongoing and was turned off by the stories. I wonder how I'll feel this second time around.

Oh, it did have a whiff of Eve and Roarke but that shifted later in the series.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I've read the first several books in this series. This is a good short story. When I read this novella at the time, I didn't feel like I had really missed much by not knowing how Sam and Nick hooked up.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments Jonetta,

That is good to know. I remember my cousin read this series before In Death. She felt like the first couple of in death books were ripping off Nick and Sam. Of course, I showed her that Naked was published years before Fatal Affair. :-)

When MF first released this series, there was a loud outcry about the similarities. It’s why I held back for a bit. But it hits its groove around book #4 and the similarities just plain ended for me. If you can get them on audio with Eva Kaminsky, do it. She’s great at voice distinctions and storytelling.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 1801 comments Skipping - I've only read books 1 and 2. It was a long time ago, so I don't remember much.
