What's the Name of That Book??? discussion

i read it between 2016-2018 , it was in a journal pov. I believe that there was some type of egg on the cover and the authors last name might have POSSIBLY started with T , but i’m not completely sure. The boy (main character) and his friends had threw eggs at people , and he got into trouble with his principal. the principal told him to write in a journal as a punishment. that’s all i can remember about the first book.

SPOILERS for sequel:

I remember in the second book , one of the main characters friends died of a sickness, his name was either Q or started with a Q. I think the story was set back when they didn’t have proper medicines , which is how his friend died. so i’m thinking set in 1900’s sometime but i cant be sure. each of the dates DEFINITELY started with 19–.
