Hello!
Our two themes for October:-

Theme 1: 🎃Halloween Horrors👻Suggest a book that resembles the theme in some way. You can select chilling horror novels, spooky tales, classical gothics, books featuring witches, wizards, magical beings, or even dark fantasies.

Theme 2: 🏫Lessons & Literature🎓
Suggest a book that resembles the theme in some way. You can select books with teachers as protagonists, explore memoirs or biographies that narrate the life stories of influential educators or examine the profound influence teachers can have on students' lives, both in and out of the classroom. You can also explore genres like YA featuring student-teacher interactions, Romance or mysteries featuring teachers as protagonists etc.

You can nominate 2 books each for the above-listed themes.

Before nominating, take note of the following points:-

1. Please suggest only those books you'll be genuinely interested in reading in October. (view spoiler)

2. Link the books you suggest and if you are using the app or can't link it, include the name of the author with the book name. Some books have duplicate titles.

3. We expect you to participate in the discussion if your suggested book is chosen for the month.

The BOTMs for October will be decided through a group poll according to the suggestions received here.

I've decided to answer your question in another thread, since listing books in a thread for book nominations can be confusing.

It looks good but I am not sure either, at such short notice. I am reading other books. It would be nice if polls are carried out well in advance and there's one month time to procure the books. Not everyone prefers to read in online mode. It takes time to get the physical copy and it's not always readily available. In two other groups that I am in, they are conducting polls for the month of November right now. So there's one month gap between poll result and the starting date of reading the selected book. That's why I couldn't read The Secret History when it was selected for April or May. It was such short notice and I was already buddy reading As the Crow Flies by Jeffrey Archer with some friends.

Thanks for sharing about this issue, we'll try to do the same and maybe put up for nomination earlier. Up untill now we have been following this method but it would be nice to try this out.

As Lusie mentioned, you can schedule a buddy read with someone who's interested for a later date too.
