Yemner Reydjers | 6 comments I am seeking open-minded and patient folks to help me edit my manuscript, "The Unifying Hypothesis of Language." The work is inspired by Carl Sagan's "Pale Blue Dot" and is an exploration into religion as a motivating force for world peace. Here is the abstract:

"There is a tendency of the vast majority of people on Earth to see a "higher meaning" or "higher power" in all things; people experience this because the emotion of faith is an instinct: a drive for togetherness and understanding, a naturally selected trait passed down from successful tribal groups whose linguistic, animistic practices evolved into religious behavior. Even though we have rational answers to the universe, the vast majority of the world still interprets a higher meaning through religious traditions, seemingly in the face of logic and evidence. While there appears to be no higher purpose, there is one: it is simply being human. Of course, being human is not so simple, as science cannot fully explain the human brain or our collective global society. Perhaps a greater understanding of our shared world could help us to comprehend what it means to be human; this is one of the last great scientific discoveries yet to be made. For now, humanity's only known "purpose" is the same inexplicable, instinctual drive we share with all other life on Earth: to adapt and survive. In realizing this purpose, and understanding our faith instinct, people can find a balance between science and spirituality, using rational thinking to “discover” themselves. If humans made more concerted efforts, together we could envision an evidence-based higher purpose to our lives on Earth. The ultimate goal of everyone, whether they realize it or not, is to simply be human: to achieve peace and happiness, which can only be attained through an understanding of our human nature and a stronger effort to work together as a global community. To accomplish this, the apparent adapted need for faith in a higher power can be transformed into faith in human beings and the power of science to advance human society."

Yemner, I think you should be able to post a link as just a URL. For example:
https://www.wikipedia.org/

Wallys L I don't have by far the knowledge required to help you, but your manuscript is very interesting, and I'll definitely read it.
