Eman Djentleman | 6 comments I would be interested in reading The Gunslinger again. It's about time I do my regular re-read of The Tower. Were you looking for a Tower virgin or could a Tower Junkie like me tag along?

I read it within the last year but would love to re-read... just the first in the series?

Panda | 47 comments I recently finished a re-read, in which I included the 'side books' like The Stand, 'Salem's Lot, Black House, etc. If you do consider 'outside reading' I highly recommend Salem's Lot, as out of all of the books that The Dark Tower Series: Books 1-7 leaks into, Salem's Lot seemed the most significant. I also really felt that The Eyes of the Dragon was interesting to include as it showed just how old/far back 'the darkness' is, and admittedly it is much shorter than The Stand, which some consider a significant pre-read (personally, I think that it is nice to know and while it is significant, it isn't necessary, especially considering the additional time to read such a large book, for some readers).

Outside of Stephen King books, some cursory knowledge of (view spoiler) would be helpful, however this would be such a fun Easter Egg for someone who hasn't read The Dark Tower Series yet, that I am putting it behind a spoiler tag.

I would also like to suggest, if you have not read the audiobook versions to check them out as they are really quite special. Immersive reading, might be something to consider as well here where you use both the audiobook and the print book, to follow along. For those of you who love to read fast, the Libby app allows for reading audiobooks from 1x speed at up to 2x speed and audible allows slowing down to 0.5 speed all the way up to 3.5 speed, for all of your reading preferences. Also if you are interested in immersive reading and do not have any of the books, or have only some of them, Amazon (who owns audible) usually allows for you to purchase the kindle version and then pick up the audiobook for a few dollars more. I include this information not as a sales pitch (I have nothing to do with audible) but for information purposes as not too long ago I had no idea that there was even a word for those of us who sometimes like to use both print and audiobooks. Also with a series this long, someone who can go either way may want to read part of the series on audiobook on their commute or at work and then in print when they have time to sit down and look at a book.

Sorry so long. I have adhd, love The Dark Tower series so much and I guess I had something to say, lol.

Most of all Enjoy!! Reading should be whatever you want it to be, so have fun!
