I just downloaded Elizabeth Gaskell's North and South and also Cranford from Standard Books. The organization takes public domain works and formats them for eBooks.

Good idea. I've only looked at Gutenberg a few times, but found the photocopies with small type difficult to read. Next time I'll try enlarging it to see if it helps.
