Liz H | 76 comments I recently downloaded a free eBook in this format. I believe this is the current format that kindle uses. At first I couldn't find any way to actually get it to my kindle app. The instructions on the site were just for sending it to an actual kindle.

When I tried using the send to kindle app the file I downloaded, it rejected the file. I decided to try removing the 3, because AZW is an earlier Amazon format. That worked. By the way, if you do download an ebook from Standard eBooks, they also have cover art that you can download and send to kindle. (I hate having blank covers in my kindle.)

Chelsea (crystal_dark) | 105 comments I use the Send to Kindle email address to send downloaded versions of Fanfictions from Archive of Our Own (https://archiveofourown.org/) a lot and was sending mainly MOBI versions but Amazon sent me some emails Early in the year stating:

"We wanted to let you know that Send to Kindle will soon remove the ability to send MOBI (.mobi, .azw) files to your Kindle library. Any MOBI files already in your library will not be affected by this change. MOBI is an older file format and won’t support the newest Kindle features for documents. Any existing MOBI files you want to read with our most up-to-date features for documents will need to be re-sent in a compatible format. Compatible formats now include EPUB (.epub), which you can send to your library using the new Send to Kindle for Web, the free Kindle app. We will be adding EPUB support to the Send to Kindle desktop app for PC and Mac. If you have any questions, please visit our help page or contact our Customer Service team. Regards, Amazon Kindle Support"

There was also a link for compatible formats: https://www.amazon.com/gp/f.html?C=2F...

I hope you find this information helpful.

I have a lot of things with blank covers in my Kindle and it annoys me too.

Liz H | 76 comments Thanks Chelsea. I hadn't thought of loading my other stories to Kindle, but I'd like to have them there, so I guess I'll do it while I still have the option.

Sue (sg93) | 5 comments I discovered this app when I heard about on the Reading Glasses podcast. It is an app that allows you to have app your ebooks in one place. I use it because it makes reading PDF files from some fan fiction sites much easier. It’s called Pocketbook. https://pocketbook.ch/en-ch/app It’s available for apple and android. This is what it says about formats: The app supports all popular e-book formats! Read in PDF (Adobe DRM), EPUB (Adobe DRM), DjVu, FB2, FB2.zip, MOBI, DOCX, RTF, TXT, CHM, HTML (basic), CBZ, CBR, CBT. I haven’t tried any kindle books. But it might help someone with MOBI files. It looks like from the site that they also have a physical reader.

I started sending a lot of my Fanfictions from Archive of Our Own to my Kindle email with the MOBI format after they started saying that but I have started doing more in the Epub format now since both options are available at Archive of Our Own. They say the ePub have more up-to-date features but so far I haven't seen a difference between the two formats other than the fact the MOBI Fanfictions from Archive of Our Own let you easily skip between chapters and the ePub Fanfictions from Archive of Our Own don't unless you have them marked with a highlight or use the search function.
