Black Cloud Rising 3 stars (Subdue)

I always have trouble when a book is written in the vernacular of a time period. This results in rough reading for me and losing the enjoyment of a story, I wanted to love this book, as so many other have, but couldn't. I raced through it just to have it finished.

The book tells a very interesting story of The African Brigade and their first forays in the Civil War. The author really knows his history on the matter and did a wonderful job of combining HF with fact. I just could not get past the problems I had and award the 3 star for the author and his knowledge.
