48. The Word “Secret” In The Title

This is one of our winning 2024 prompts, as voted upon by our 52 Book Club members! You can re-watch the live draw here (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7kdi-...), in which the word “secret” was drawn from our two finalists. (The runner-up was the word “last.”)

The word “secret” must appear in either the title, subtitle, or series title. It may also appear as a variation of the word, such as secrets, secretly, or secretive. As a creative interpretation, the word “secret” may also be inside another word – for example, “secretary.”

This prompt can be completed in any language and does not have to be the English word for “secret.”

For those who participated in our 2023 challenge and feel this prompt is too similar to “a book about secrets,” we would encourage you to pick an entirely different genre for this prompt.

message 23: by Zeljka (new)

Zeljka | 43 comments I know it's a strech but could The Mystery of Mary be counted for this one? The mystery is not exactly a synonym for secret but in some languages the root of the word is the same...

Shonna Froebel | 255 comments All Her Little Secrets by Wanda M. Morris. https://cdnbookworm.blogspot.com/2024...

message 26: by Michele (new)

Michele Olson | 517 comments I have lots of books with "secret" in the title, but the first one I read is Ring of Secrets by Roseanna M. White. It's about George Washington's Culper spy ring during the American Revolution. While the MFC, Winter, prays enough for this to be considered Christian fiction, it doesn't hit you over the head like some I've tried.

message 28: by Lori (new)

Lori Smoll | 1 comments I enjoy reading a wide range of genres, and I just started listening to The Secret Lives of Color. So fascinating! If you enjoy art, fashion, interior design, history - you'll be intrigued by this one!

message 29: by [deleted user] (new)

Just finished The Secret Casebook of Simon Feximal, another 5 star read for me. 2024 is off to a fantastic reading year so far yay!

message 30: by Devika (new)

Devika (youactlikeicare) | 172 comments I choose the Secrets of Seduction. It was a basic historical romance, but I wasn't a huge fan of it. I am not sure why, it just lost my interest half way through and it was a struggle to finish. I was surprised since my bar for historical romances is very low and tend to like most of them.

message 31: by Alena (new)

Alena Zink | 7 comments The Secrets We Kept by Laura Prescott - loved the book!

message 32: by AngieA (new)

AngieA Allen (angelwings55) | 48 comments I used "My Mother's Secret" by J. L. Witterick for this prompt (word secret in the title). Would also work for 40+ chapters but is only 188 pages. It is a lovely read; like lyric poetry. Oh, would also work for 4 POV. This book is small but mighty!

Lucilla | 144 comments I read The Name of This Book Is Secret by Pseudonymous Bosch. I gave it 3 stars, but I would have given it 5 stars if I'd read it when I was a kid. It's a fun read about two kids solving a mystery, with synesthesia and the elixir of life and secret codes.

message 44: by Jolien (new)

Jolien (joliendekoninck) | 69 comments Read "Who Are The Secret Six? part three", the tird installment of Batman/Superman. Dark and gripping story in which Batman faces some serious self confrontation fighting The Batman Who Laughs. Superman helps him by going undercover, infecting himself with Joker Toxin. Bruce and Clark discover that The Batman Who Laughs has turned Shazam, James Gordon and Blue Beetle into their dark versions, working for him. I'm eager to see how the story continues.
