Spoiler Alert/Request: What was the familial relationship between Hild and Cian?

I think I figured it out but not 100% sure. How were Hild and Cian originally related? Were they half-siblings? And if so, how did it come to be that Hild's mother seemed to like Onnen and was protective of Cian?

Berguswith is Cian’s mother, not Onnen. Onnen kept Berguswith’s secret of adultery and illegitimate birth, raising Cian as her own. Cian and Hild look so much alike because they are half siblings.

OK, that makes sense! it’s been several months since I read the book so I don’t remember everything now, but didn’t the other characters in the book make the same assumption I did about Cian towards the end? I thought everyone was thinking that he looked like Hild’s father? Who was his father, then?
