George P. | 45 comments What a close vote that was! I did vote for this book and am looking forward to reading & discussing it. My science interests are mostly for biology subjects. My public library has it available, I was happy to see. I saw Dr Wohlleben on a streaming documentary some time ago, probably Nflix.

Hector | 41 comments Indeed a close one! I kept checking the votes frequently to see which book won. I managed to get the book and it has a nice presentation, small with a good page quality.

George P. | 45 comments I have read about a third of the book now- it has a lot of interesting information. The natural world is more complex than we usually assume it to be.

Elisabeth Healey | 1 comments This was a wonderful book. I loved it. The author writes in such a personable way that one feels almost like being in a conversation with a friend sitting in front of a fireplace or on a porch in his house. It was filled with very detailed and researched scientific information - new information with all corresponding sources - but did not like like a scientific manuscript. It was very vivid and personal. Or like the author writes in the epilogue, filled with emotion. Sometimes if felt like a little bit of whiplash when the story goes from one topic to something seemingly unrelated but it all ties up somehow. Excellent book. I will read the other books from the series.

I started this book a little late. I almost skipped it, but I remembered how much I enjoyed The Hidden Life of Trees: What They Feel, How They Communicate: Discoveries from a Secret World. I also enjoyed this one, though perhaps slightly less. Or maybe it was just not as surprising. Because a lot of naturalists talk about the interconnectedness of nature. It's just that Wohlleben does it so well. Here is my review.
