Claudia Adotey Hey guys, I'd love some insights about my journey as a new author. I published my debut book last month and have been slowly getting PR help, such as arc reads and reviews. Recently my book has been considered to be published by a publishing house and it's great, good news but my question and concern here is, I'll have to delete my self-published one and I guess the reviews (on Amazon and Goodreads) will disappear. What can I do to prevent that? PLEASE HELP!!

Ingrid Haunold (ingridhaunold) | 24 comments What does "delete" mean? I believe it means that you need to make it unavailable for sale. I don't think it means that you have to delete all traces of it. That would be stupid, and I mean stupid from the publisher's point of view. You've already created positive word-of-mouth, the publishing house can build on that. So ask them to clarify.

At any case, when you read the contract, make sure that you fully understand it. If they are only offering a percentage of net profits....you'll probably never see any money.

Mattia Lorenzo Zonno (mattiazonnoauthor) | 9 comments Hello fellows,

I trust this message finds you well.

I am reaching out to this community seeking guidance on a matter of great importance to me as an independent author.

My recently published book has garnered around 170 positive reviews, particularly from Advance Reader Copies (ARCs), on platforms such as Amazon and Goodreads.

While the reception has been heartening, I find myself facing the challenge of effective marketing. In an effort to boost visibility, I have implemented a strategy of reaching out to my TikTok followers.

Specifically, I have engaged with those who possess Kindle Unlimited subscriptions by providing them access to the book through a video plot of the novel and I asked readers to share their experience through simple, faceless videos showcasing the book cover with a "currently reading" caption, aiming to boost the visibility of the book's hashtag.

However, I now find myself at a crossroads. I can't sustain this approach indefinitely as it is very time-consuming and hinders my ability to focus on writing the sequels.
In light of this, I've explored alternative avenues and even reached out to publishing houses with the intention of republishing the book, as marketing is not my forte.

If any of you have experience or recommendations on effective indie author marketing, or if you have insights into approaching publishing houses, I would greatly appreciate your valuable input.

I am particularly interested in understanding how to leverage social media and other channels to broaden the reach of my book and connect with a wider audience.

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration. I look forward to learning from your experiences and receiving any suggestions you may have.
