You get to appreciate the book in the last 50 to 70 pages or so. That's when you want to go back and find specific scenes in the book to really appreciate the thought that has gone into crafting this storyline. I'm just sad it took such a hike to make it to that part of the book because the lead up was like walking through molasses. It was for sure not a thriller. I did appreciate that it had more depth than most winter/cabin books with tidbits of the letters from his wife (even though sometimes those too were slowing down the book).
The whole time you know something is going on with Adam's face blindness, you just aren't sure what the twist is going to be. I was skeptical(view spoiler)[ about his wife, I just didn't know in what way because all the scenarios I came up with in my head didn't work out with the timeline or plot (hide spoiler)]. I gotta say this one got me!
Overall, it was a slower read that was just alright, nothing that stands out among other books. I'll probably check out some of her other books because I don't think this is a fair one to judge the author on.
