When Olivia first arrives and meets the other girls, she takes it upon herself to become their protector becoming the ringleader in perpetrating a series of pranks against the staff. Why does Olivia step into the role of protector? What does she hope to accomplish with the pranks? Is she successful?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments Some people are born leaders and Olivia is one. She wasn't going to give in to the bleak prognosis and wouldn't let the others either. Humor, laughter, fun is the best medicine - she was successful.

I agree, Anita. I loved this prologue and the pranks the girls pulled. I also loved how each girl brought something different to their group.

message 4: by Susan (new)

Susan (cruelshoes) | 158 comments I think the pranks were awesome and am glad the clinic did not admonish the girls for being young girls.

Jessica | 156 comments Yes it seems that the nurses even enjoyed the pranks, knowing that they would be good for their patients. It didn't seem that the pranks were particularly dangerous.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments Olivia may be a born leader, but that gift was strengthened because her family left her to fend for herself. I loved the pranks. They served to bond the girls in a way apart from their illness, but they also gave them something to laugh about between treatments. Laughter is an excellent aid to healing. The pranks served the girls well.
