Olivia’s goal is to put her father Robert MacKenzie in prison or die trying. Why is she so determined to see him behind bars? Is she right to use her position as an IRS attorney to gather information to use against him?

His shady business dealings marginalized Olivia at a time she needed him, for one thing. Second, Olivia has a clearly drawn line of right and wrong and what Robert does is clearly wrong to her. Her position and personal knowledge of just how sleezy he is and going after him is the only way to bring him down.

I think it stems from childhood that he could not bring himself to visit her and blames Olivia for her sickness and for not getting the aunt to invest her money. Olivia is very smart and knows something shady is going on and by going after him it's the only way she can stop him from hurting people she knows and care about. She is really the only one that can bring him down.

Olivia wants to stand up against her dad because of all the people he has hurt or is about to hurt. She has a strong sense of right and wrong though it's hard to know where that came from given the sensibilities of her parents.

Olivia sees her parents through the eyes of an abandoned child in a time of need. She knows if they can hurt her, they can hurt anyone. She wants to end the pain.

I believe she gets her strength and desire to do good from her aunt and uncle. Emma was the best thing that happened to Olivia. Emma gave her strength and purpose. Emma also showed her that love will have a family move across country to be available in a time of need.
