Monster

It’s coming, I know it is.
The monster that screams and bellows and tears people apart.
It’s coming, I can hear its heavy breathing and pounding footsteps.
It comes.
It destroys.
I cannot hide, I cannot run,
But I try.

Into the bathroom I go,
And I scream in terror at what I see.
For from the mirror stares the monster.
It growls and bares its fangs, saliva dripping red from its jaws.
It stares at me, and I stare back.
Only then do I realize,
That the
Monster
Is
Me.
