Kelly | 106 comments I had the killer pegged after all the introductions of the characters. I just figured out if all the ones that were listed (because it truly felt like the characters were listed off in the beginning of the book and not shown to the reader), the killer was given enough information to be remembered but not too much to be a stand out character. This can be seen throughout the entire book too. I don't know if it's that obvious because I put all my eggs in one basket with this character being the killer and only focusing on them throughout the book, but they always had the opportunity for each murder. I might not have known the motive for the killings but I figured it would all be explained in the end.

A lot of the characters are hard to connect with and that might just be because there were so many of them and they were introduced so fast. A few of them (Mathew especially) didn't seem to have a personality at all other than the one trait they were there for (rich fiancé).

This is one hundred percent a me thing but I was hoping for more murders. With so many characters I thought numbers would dwindle faster but I feel like it took two hundred pages to lose the first two characters and I was so confused about when the murder mystery part was going to start in the book so if it's gore you're looking for, this is not this book. Dead of Winter by Darcy Coates would be a step in a better direction for you if you're still wanting the locked door, murder mystery, winter cabin vibes with more death and carnage.

Maybe I would've enjoyed the book more if it wasn't so predictable but I'm thankful it made it a quick read. There aren't any plot twists or unexpected turns which let me down with the claims of "a perfect mystery for fans of Agatha Christie." Just because it's a locked door mystery, doesn't make it an Agatha Christie like novel.

This author has another well known book called The Couple Next Door which I already own so I will be reading it and I'm hoping it'll live up to its reviews a lot better than this book.
