The runner up for our Manga of the Month Manga released post 2020 theme is Oshi no Ko by written by Aka Akasaka and illustrated by Mengo Yokoyari. Oshi no Ko began it's publication in 2020 and is currently on volume 12. It is being translated and is available via Manga Plus as well. Yen Press has released 3 volumes in English as well. An 11 episode anime has been released that covers roughly 4 volumes of the manga.

Akasaka is also known for his previous manga Kaguya-Sama: Love is War. Yokoyari is also known for her previous manga Scum's Wish which she both wrote and drew.

Ran (kodzuken8396) | 4 comments I really love this series. This is one of those rare series that I read every chapter on release day (on Mangaplus).
It captures the psychological aspects of being involved in entertainment industry pretty well. The characters are well written and lovable.

wordsbyjosie Hi Sibani! Quick question, does Mangaplus require a subscription?

Hi, There have been some changes in manga plus since I first read Oshi No Ko.
But long story short, you don't have to pay anything or subscribe, to read any ongoing series in it for One time. You get these tickets for every chapter, once you open the chapter and close it, you won't be able to open it again without subscription.
So you should read the chapter in one go or avoid closing the chapter & app till you are done with an opened chapter.

Other than that the first 3 chapters and the latest 3 chapters are available for multiple reads.

For rereading a series or reading a series which is not ongoing you need the subscription.

I’ve read the first 4 volumes this week and have really enjoyed it. That covers the official English volumes out at the moment and I’m debating if I wanna read it in the chapter by chapter format. I’m leaning that way though as this is some good stuff.

I wanna watch the anime with my wife as well but that dub is pretty rough.

Well Oshi no Ko has become a bit of a favorite for me this year. I'm finishing up volume 6 and still really enjoying it. I also binged the anime with my wife and daughter this weekend. It was good the dub started a little rough but it became tolerable. Not great but not terrible.

I also decided to start collecting these physically as well.

Just finished volume 12. Starting to feel like the stories coming to an end soon. I know the author did say the end was in site but I can see this wrapping up within the next few volumes but who knows I could be mistaken. Either way I’ve been having a blast with this one.
