I'm curious as to why Cleopatra stuff seems so attracted to her

The uncle is worrisome. he really seems like he's trying to take care of her but. . .if he got all their money, I don't see much incentive to keep the brother and wife (her parents) alive. Did he need the money to do what he's doing? now it sounds like maybe they died crossing him? or doing something they didn't tell the uncle about?

Hayes is just meh. I don't love their love/hate situation yet. maybe he'll grow on me

I also think she is really lucky. she's made a lot of really dangerous moves in a country she doesn't know. she's been stolen from and yet she goes out at night to places she has no idea about. yikes (hide spoiler)]

Part 2

(view spoiler)[ wow, I'm really torn about her uncle. On one hand, the money really came in handy. On the other, it really seems like he did love them both - her mom and her dad. I can only assume someone else killed them (or they died because they didn't tell him the plans they had and their death was an accident). Or, maybe it was the guy who stole the ring?

Whit is still not growing on me. I'm not feeling their push and pull - and I really wish I did.
Curious if he is already promised though. Didn't he say he's needs to be focused on someone in London? hmmm. . .

I'm glad they are embracing her being on the ship. and curious that Fincastle wouldn't let the two girls talk and kept his daughter completely cut off from everyone. AND that he's a little jumpy with a gun. (hide spoiler)]

Part 3

(view spoiler)[ WOW! so much in that part! I can't believe her mom was alive! and then she tricked her into giving her artifacts. that was just wild!!

I like Whit a little more - their interactions were better once neither of them were trying anymore

I didn't anticipate the letter either!! What could have happened? and could this be tied to her mom again?

and when Isabel leveled the gun at her chest, I was shocked. so glad that didn't go the way it looked like it was! (hide spoiler)]

I thought it was easy to imagine her believing her mom and then others as her uncle wouldn't share anything with her.

I wonder what we'll discover in book 2. I think I'll read it! (hide spoiler)]

(view spoiler)[I was thinking the same thing, why keep the parents around when he knows that he is guardian and money keeper if they die. Never tell someone "if I die you get all the money" that just gives people fuel for a future fire.

Inez is 19? she is basically an adult, but men wanted young females who could can give birth sometimes as young as age 13 and still then, not be considered adults, the truth is no a 13 years old is not old enough to be mature much less be a wife and a mother at that age. Anyway she 19 even then she is still not mature enough by some of the inner dialogue she has with herself, however her saving grace is that she talks though and sees that some of them are childish actions. They should have gave guardianship to the aunt, hell she was already taking care of her. That must have hurt the aunts feelings, to know that they trusted her enough with their only daughter but not to be a guardian of that daughter. Or was it not done since she was a female?

As for the attachment to Cleo
I think she is reborn and she recalls some memories when she touches items that belong to Cleo. That's why cleo stuff has that connection to her.

Wit, why so gloomy, he is hiding something from his past, and I bet he's making it out more than is should be and I think it has to do with his parents. Remember his comment there are only two people in this world I trust and that is my brother and my sister. Not his parents. So there's something going on there. He also mentioned one female he should be t thinking and worrying about, but he didn't mention a name . Was he referring to his sister or a girl left behind? (hide spoiler)]

As for the parents ... the mother had a suspicion that her brother was on the wrong tracks, and yet she continued to follow him. The diary told it, now who he supposed to have murdered and how, I don't now yet, was it a good guy or was it a bad guy like the thief who stole the ring.

Whit is mad right know, until he talks about his issues I don't really care about him.

I also thought he said he had someone he should be thinking about back in London, but he didn't say who, was is his sister or was it another female. I don't think it's his mother tho.

I'm surprised that she didn't t throw the fact that there was another female on the boat the same age as herself so why continue to make a big deal, yes they don't want anyone else to know what they are up to, but Ines is family like her mom and dad, and unless it's illegal Ines would not say anything, but I think this activity the uncle is doing is more illegal than legal.

I would like the two girls to talk more, I think I like Fincastle daughter she is not an asshole like her father. Really why did he have to pull out a gun on a 19 year old, really, she is that much of a thread that you were threatened enough to pull a weapon out on her. His manly physic was not capable to subdue her if she needed subduing? he's an idiot and your right he is jumpy with the gun and he is going to pull that out on the wrong individual one day and get killed, he's an idiot!

I loved the little guy that helped her sneak on the boat and how he tried to keep her hidden, now I don't under stand why she had to line up, she could have just stayed in the kitchen and hid for the entire trip if necessary, even once they got to the destination. I think it would have been easier to be sneaky in the outfit she had but, once she fell in the river , that plan went out the window. (hide spoiler)]

What is Inez going to do with no money? Since her uncle is refusing to give her, her inherence until she marries.

I can't believe what happened to the cousin, did not see that one, and not sure it was necessary for the story to continue, I mean he could have shot her in the leg or arms but to go directly to the head come on.

And the dad, why the heck has he not come out, because I don't think he is actually dead. (hide spoiler)]

As for Whit, I think he has feelings for her but because of his title his life has been planned since his birth. Even though it's a horrible practice to marry to make the family richer, and not for love. He can have her on the side, knowing that she is the one he actually loves. That is how it was back then.
