Hello everyone! So excited to start the new year reading classics :)

Feel free to introduce yourself here by telling us your name/username and your favorite book right now.

-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
My name is Ruth and I am a college student. Since I am majoring in the sciences all I read for a long time were research papers, so it is my intent to go back to reading for fun. My favorite book right now is Paul Kalanithi's memoir When Breath Becomes Air.

Hannah DCamp | 7 comments Hi! I'm Hannah and I work as a high school librarian. I read mostly YA and Middle Grade for work, but there are a ton of classics I somehow missed the boat on (which as a book professional, makes me feel like a bit of a fraud sometimes, haha). My favorite book right now is Buffalo Flats by Martine Leavitt (YA historical fiction).

David Sørensen | 2 comments Good day. I'm David. I've a master in ancient greek, but currently work as a science teacher in West-Norway. I also teach religion.

I read anything I can read (almost literally), but it tends to non-fiction due to work - currently loads of books on Buddhism - and interests.

My favorite recent read fiction was "Forsaken house" by Richard Baker. I'm a great fan of anything Benjamin Disraeli; I read multiple of his books some time back.

Danielle (dani241) | 6 comments Hi everyone! I'm Danielle, currently spending my free time reading, gaming and learning languages.

I studied English philology in university and had to analyze lots of classics by American and British authors. Most of the works sadly went under the radar so I'm hoping to read a few of them next year.

Favorite books are quite rare for me as I tend to read with a critical eye, but a book that I really enjoyed recently is If Cats Disappeared from the World by Genki Kawamura.

Isak Berggren (isakberggren) | 1 comments Hi! I'm Isak, I'm an engineering student who runs a lot in my free time. So to get a little bit of variety, i enjoy to settle down with an book when time allows it.

Sarah (sarahreadsthethings) Hey everyone! I’m Sarah and I’ve started reading a lot more lately. I have been looking for a virtual book club that doesn’t require too much intensity and I’ve been wanted to re-read classics, so this is perfect! I’m currently reading Crying in H Mart by Michelle Zauner 😊

message 7: by Mia (new)

Mia Hi, I'm Mia! The classics helped me fall in love with reading. The 24 listed are a great start to get back to it. Love the list! Hope to read a few from the list next year. Looking forward to Lord of the Flies in January.

Felicia (felicia2320) | 11 comments Hello! I'm Felicia. I used to read a ton of YA but since college I have really fallen off the reading wagon due to only reading textbooks. After working for a while I am now getting back into reading. I usually tend to go to fantasy but I want to read some of the classics.

Please let me know how you like this book! It's been recommended to me by someone I know but I usually don't like reading biographies.

Care | 4 comments Hi my name is Care, I’m a student and recently got into classics so I’m looking forward to discussing them with everyone here:)

Felicia, I really loved it! Was a good read for me...the bonus was for me realizing that the author is also a musician (Japanese Breakfast) that I really loved already, I didn't know her name so it gets an extra star from me just for that! Feel free to friend me and check out what else I've been reading :)

message 12: by Krisi (new)

Krisi Georgieva | 1 comments Hi! My name is Kristina but you can call me Krisi. I love reading, writing and travelling. Currently I am taking a gap year so I can focus on some personal projects. I am excited to read the books and looking forward to discussing them with everyone here :)

message 13: by Simon (new)

Simon Buser | 12 comments Hi everyone! My name is Simon, I am a financial analyst a couple years removed from college and have been reading a lot of foundational classics this past year, as my education never really required going through any of them. My favorite book has always been The Lord of the Rings, but so far my favorite this year has been Paradise Lost and C.S. Lewis' Preface to Paradise Lost.

message 14: by Anouk (new)

Anouk Hi, I'm Anouk and I'm studying geological engineering. I mostly read YA and nonfiction about Abrahamic religions, and my favorite book is either Idaho by Emily Ruskovich or The City Beautiful by Aden Polydoros.

a dog who learned to read (mothcub) | 2 comments Hi! I came upon this group and thought it seemed like a very fun idea. I just rewatched BBC Pride and Prejudice and thought wow... I gotta read some more classics next year!

Anyway, I'm Lilly, an illustrator from London, and I'm currently almost finished with a book called "Lonely Castle in the Mirror" - an interesting modern Japanese novel about children who have troubles at school and get sucked into a mysterious castle. I like it quite a bit so far, but I'll reserve full judgement until the end.

message 16: by Erin (new)

Erin Atacan | 10 comments Hi! I’m Erin. I’m currently at university studying computer science. I started reading some classics last year and fell in love with how different the world in each book seems. I’m trudging my way through the third Game of Thrones novel AND a true crime book as well. Looking forward to establishing my new favourite genre( if you can call classics a genre?)
