I've just started and always enjoy Punshon's humor; so far (about 30 pages) Olive has got in a few digs and Bobby and the local police investigator have tricked each other to get exactly what they each want.

I loved those bits too; yes when you say no and no when you say yes :D
Finished now and off to the spoiler thread. The war time restrictions are well presented with comments about the food and lack thereof, clothing wear and tear and no coupons for replacements, and the ever-present concern for petrol. Olive does a wonderful job of keeping Bobby fed and presentable.
This may be the last thing I will read on my kindle! Can't get it to start today and it's too late to ask Santa for a replacement.

Oh No! Is there anything else you can read on?

Not a problem. I have other devices with the kindle application but prefer the actual kindle. And there are always my library books that are due back quite soon.

Use the USB cable to connect your Kindle to the computer for charging the battery and transferring files. To charge your Kindle from a power outlet you will need a compatible AC adaptor for the USB cable. When your Kindle is charging, a lightning bolt appears on the battery icon at the top of the Home screen, The indicator light onthe bottom edge will turn amber while the battery is charging and green when it is fully charged. Charging should take less than 4 hours using a Kindle AC adapter. Charging using 3rd-party adapters or via USB should take less than 4 hours but may take longer depending on the capability of the hardware.
f the Kindle is still not charging, try another USB port or electrical outlet.
If your Kindle is plugged into a low powered USB port it will not receive enough power to charge.
If you persevere, and ensure your Kindle is fully charged, it MUST restart when you press and hold the Power button for long enough.
What model is your Kindle? I have a Kindle 5 (PW1) some 10 years old still works and I use as a backup when my 'new' Kindle 11 (Paperwhite 5) is being charged.
I use my Kindle heavily and it needs charging about once a week

Thank you Keith! Holding the power button for several seconds restarted the kindle, it works fine in my short test and I have high hopes. I registered it nine years ago so a bit younger than your backup. Thanks again.

There is a manual on the Kindle itself,, you will find it in the library as 'Kindle Users Guide'. It's well worth reading, everything you want to know about what to do and how to do it is there. You probably have a Kindle 6, the firmware is the same as my PW1,
You can find all sorts of videos about the Kindle on Youtube, do a search.
Why should anyone want to murder a man like Alfred Brown? Yet slain he was, in his own home and with a poker. The murder seems to be connected to a bout of religious fervour gripping the village of Oldfordham - in particular a battle royal between the Reverend Alexander Childs, and his nemesis Duke Dell, boxer turned revivalist preacher. But Deputy Chief Constable Bobby Owen has numerous other local suspects, and local gossips, to contend with in a puzzler of a case that indeed might lead anywhere.
It Might Lead Anywhere was first published in 1946, the twenty-second of the Bobby Owen mysteries, a series eventually including thirty-five novels.
Please do not post spoilers in this thread. Thank you.
