Peyton’s uncle gives Peyton and her sisters Bishop’s Cove – a seaside resort – with the stipulation they successfully manage it for one year. If they turn a profit, it will be theirs. It’s soon apparent someone is sabotaging their efforts to renovate the place, and it turns out their cousin Debi plays a role. What does Debi hope to gain by repeatedly falsely declaring herself as one of the new owners along with the sisters? What does she hope to gain by sabotaging their efforts? Why is she repeatedly allowed to get away with her costly pranks?

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments I think Debi is like a child who wants all of the toys. If she can't have it, no one can. She spent all of the money Uncle Len gave her for the sale of her resort. Now she wants part of her cousin's inheritance. Since they won't let her in, she is going to sabotage it by getting them to sell to Cassidy (Real Estate Guy) who will give her part of the proceeds.

Why do they let her get away with it? Good question. I think her father believes it's just easier to give into her.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments Debi was a piece of work! She took the money because running the California resort would be a lot of work with no guarantee to success. When she sees her cousins making it work, she is just plain jealous. If she couldn't succeed, she was going to make sure they didn't either. I don't really believe she expected to be able to join with her cousins in renovating and running Bishop's Cove. She just wanted to spoil it for them.

Jessica | 156 comments I was the most disappointed in Len. He ran successful businesses and had set the sisters with a goal to turn a profit. Then he hampers them with Debi even though he knows what she's like. It makes no sense and is a constant theme in this series. I wonder what kind of family Julie Garwood comes from?

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I know the type. Debi wants what she can't have without working for it. Like Robin said, If she can't have it, then no one can. Like Jessica, I was very disappointed in Len. I couldn't believe that he gave Debi another chance. I guess Debi's father is a bit like her. He will hound his siblings until he gets them to do what he wants.

Honestly, I thought it would turn out that the Debi hooked up with Finn's ex. It seemed like something Garwood would have in her story. I waited for the big conflict with the ex climax, but fortunately it didn't happen.
