This was a mix of memoir and academic women's studies jargon. 4 stars for the memior which I enjoyed. A big WTF for the academic dissection of every thought inside her own head.
To digress a little, I recall how college literature classes ruined reading for me for quite a while. I hope that at some point the author can experience her own life without justifying her every thought and action by referencing "experts".
The author is clearly articulate and well-educated, has love and family in her life and seems like a genuinely good and interesting person. I hope for her sake the mental gymnastics in this book aren't a reflection of her actual every day thought processes.
