Ellen | 3510 comments Diagnosed with ASD (autism spectrum disorder) at age 5, Michael McCreary certainly didn't let it get in his way. He developed a deep love of comedy and began pursuing his dream of becoming a comedian when he was only in junior high and scored his first 'gig' at age 14. Attending workshops to hone his craft, Michael would be the sole teen in the midst of 40- and 50-year old people. Often told he didn't 'look' autistic, Michael taught people that it looks different for everyone which included his brother Mattie. Michael's audiobook memoir is wonderful - funny, insightful, funny, touching, and downright funny. Still only in his mid-twenties it is amazing to think what Michael will accomplish in the years to come. Yes, he has met Temple Grandin and she is featured in a few of his stories. I think he will do wonders for the understanding of ASD. Well done.
