December Shelf is thriller

Did you find a thriller set in Christmas?
Did you find a new favourite? Did you binge a series?

Meg (megscl) | 1073 comments I've read 2 thrillers this month

The House of Now and Then - 4 star
A boy goes missing from a house in isolated Tasmania. 25 years later, another visitor to the house is trying to find out what happened that summer. This was a slow-moving domestic thriller with light suspense. I enjoyed it

The Bedroom Window - 3 star
Slater is a reliable 3* thriller author. This one had an unreliable narrator and strange neighbours in a gothic coastal mansion.

I am not a thriller reader, but occasionally a mystery that I read has a thriller MPG.

That happened twice this month. And, neither show on the list due to too few people categorizing the mystery that way.

The Stone Circle by Elly Griffiths had 28 people listing it as MPG Thriller.

The Hanged Man of Saint-Pholien by Georges Simenon had 14.

I am satisfied that I have done that much. The thriller genre has too many scary points for me to choose it as the first listed genre. However, when the mystery genre is first and thriller is lower in the MPG list, I will usually enjoy the story as it is not just scary, but usually only has some scary moments or elements.

I finally finished The Vig earlier this week. It was ok, but not great. I'm not sure whether I'll continue with the Dismas Hardy series or not. But at least it helped me finish TRIM for this year.
