Walter B. | 2 comments Crime fiction/adventure book written most likely in the early 90s by an American author. Starts up with a young boy probably 9 to 14 years of age sleeping at night wondering about some criminals who are active in the neighborhood but being reassured by the fact that his dad allows him to keep two guns (likely revolvers) under his pillow. The plot later revolved around the boy going out to park, facing criminals etc. It might have had some loose connection or loosely based on the Home Alone series. That's unfortunately all I remember as I never read all of it. It had a noir/detective b-movie type feeling to it.

here's an AI generated book cover very similar to what it had with a photo of Macaulay Culkin sitting on the bed with a gun in his hand:

The one I had was a translation to another language, but I'm very positive that original was a book by an American author, because of the easily identifiable style and the setting being in US. The original might have had a different cover though. I've searched all the internet but never found a photo with Macaulay Culkin similar to the photo that was on the book's cover.

Walter B. | 2 comments Found myself. Went through sites selling local used books specifying year range as 90s.
The book is called Lost Beneath Manhattan by Sigmund Brouwer published in 1990.
Searchable as ISBN 0896935299 or EAN 9780896935297

On third page of the book he does indeed mention how his dad lets him keep guns under his pillow.
Cover does indeed feature what appears to be Macaulay Culkin apparently photoshopped with a gun in his hand, you can see the cover here: https://imgur.com/a/2mVUdf9
But that's only on the cover of the local translation.

On Amazon/Kindle: Amazon.com: https://www.amazon.com/Lost-Beneath-M...

Anyway thanks to anyone who read this and maybe gave it a thought or two.
