DoodlePanda | 1226 comments Been struggling to read much recently (spending my time gaming instead..), but i really want to get through some of the books i own.

So i think my goal for 2024 is to get through some of the books i already own, mostly on Kindle but also some paper books :)

And i will try to post something now and again, have been very little on GR recently and I miss it...

DoodlePanda | 1226 comments Also unsure if i want to try a light reading challenge to try to push myself into reading more, I used to think they were fun... But also worried its gonna have the opposite effect xD

DoodlePanda | 1226 comments So my first book of 2024 will probably be The Chalk Man by C.J. Tudor mainy because I started it a few days ago and never finished it... and also its a library book so i should really try to finish it soon xD

I am gonna try to not borrow any more books and get through some of the Kindle books i own, but i also have a couple of books i really want to read that i need to buy so we will see how that goes...

I was going to try to do that but I realized I should make use of my library card before they realize that I've moved and cut me off. LOL The library in the county I'm in now has a very uninspiring ebook collection.

HomeInMyShoes | 2759 comments Greetings and salutations.

Totally understand the light reading challenge thing. I just don't think I'm up for anything on that front.

Spacechik | 83 comments Happy New Year, Christa!! Have slowed a lot on my reading. I have KU but it goes to my phone and by the time i start to read, I'm asleep!! But, here's to a positive new year!

message 16: by DoodlePanda (new)

DoodlePanda | 1226 comments I have managed to read about 30 pages so far this year.... which isnt great but better than nothing?

You're doing fine! We're not even halfway through January.

Exactly!

message 19: by DoodlePanda (new)

DoodlePanda | 1226 comments I finished it! Finally got around to reading a little before sleep last night, and then i ended up reading the rest of it (which was like half the book). It wasn't a great read, but I'm done :D

AND I managed to go to the library and hand the books in WITHOUT borrowing more!!

That takes a lot of strength! I'm someone who always seems to have my Kindle Unlimited borrows maxed out, I have no self control. Actually going into a library... I'm not sure I could walk out without a stack of books.

DoodlePanda | 1226 comments I started Fourth Wing (The Empyrean, #1) by Rebecca Yarros a few days ago and I'm really enjoying it, finally something i really want to keep reading :D

Just bought the second book so i have it ready to go xD

Yay! It's always great when a book makes you want to pick it up and keep going!

message 23: by DoodlePanda (new)

DoodlePanda | 1226 comments Reading has come to an almost complete stop for me... Fatigue has hit hard combined with being addicted to Helldivers 2 xD

Goodreads is telling me im 3 books behind my goal of 30 for the year (might have to adjust the goal so i dont get stressed about it)

message 24: by Christa, The Renewed (new)

Christa (christaw) | 1457 comments LOL I started playing Sims 4 again so I feel you. :D

I would totally lower the goal if it's causing you stress. I've done that many times over the years. I only have mine at 40 because I knew I'd be reading some of those Amazon short story things. Otherwise, I would have set it to half that. Adulting is hard and I'm going to ensure my reading challenge is a guaranteed win.

Woohoo! Take the small wins, they matter just as much as the big wins. Was it a good book?

Good enough that i wanted to get the next one. Went on Amazon to find it, theyre like $6-7 each, but also discovered there are like 20 books in the series soooooo.... no?
Not sure i liked it enough to put that kinda money/time into it xD

Aw, man. I hate when that happens. Luckily most of what I'm reading these days are series that are either completely in KU or at my library. But occasionally I have one where I think, "I want more of this!" and then "Oh, I can't afford to want more of this."

Hey, DP!

Ditto what Christa said about wanting to continue a series just for the cost to squash the idea.

I hope you found other good reads this month!

message 31: by DoodlePanda (new)

DoodlePanda | 1226 comments I have read a little at least... Finished Wool which i really enjoyed, and me and a friend have started watching the series. Planning on reading the second book in the Silo series soon.

Have been busy with World of Warcraft (i havent played in 15 years and now its sucked me back in due to a bunch of friends picking it up again...)

Also started watching Supernatural again, never watched the last 6(?) seasons so im hoping ill get through them all this time. Still rewatching the episodes ive seen before tho.

message 32: by Christa, The Renewed (new)

Christa (christaw) | 1457 comments Oh man, now I'm kind of craving another Supernatural binge. I last watched the whole series right after the final season wrapped.
