I have not been a Stephen King fan for the past 25 years. I read 3 of his books that long ago (Thinner by Stephen King, Dolores Claiborne, and I can't remember). I didn't like the endings so I moved on. It wasn't until the past few months that I have been wanting to read Holly. Mainly because I have my own Holly and I thought it would be funny.

I didn't realize that Holly is a character from a trilogy and another stand alone and possible a short story collection.

It became quite the commitment to an author I wasn't fond of but I was all in.
This is the order:

Mr. Mercedes
Finders Keepers
End of Watch

The Outsider

If It Bleeds

I read the trilogy and ended up hooked. Then I read The Outsider. Finally I read Holly. I figured I knew the character's background and gone through Holly's growth with her. I did not read If it Bleeds. Enough was enough, I was patient as long as I could.

I am so glad I read everything in that order. I love Holly. Stephen King's Holly reminds me of my Holly. They both have shyness and quirks. They both have hidden strength and a very sharp wit.

Not only that, my opinion of Stephen King has changed. From what little I read from his "author's notes", he uses his fandom for good. He has great messages for the public that he puts into his characters. It's not always just his views but views from all sides are represented.

I just read Billy Summers by Stephen King.

Another King book that I want to own. When did it happen? When did I become a Stephen King fan?
