Trish (trishga) | 212 comments It seems like once your account is on hold or you are on the light plan, all opportunities to return a book disappear. Do you think it's worth contacting CS to request a return? This book was purchased when I was a regular customer.

Jeanie | 4024 comments It never hurts to try. If the book was bought more than a year ago they may or may not let you return it, but you'll never know unless you try.

Hi Trish. If you account is on hiatus (hold) for 1, 2, or 3 months, you can make a return as long as the account is in good standing. This means that the last monthly payment before the hold took place went through completely.

The Light Annual Plan only allows for the return of 2 books every 6 months. You can contact us and we can check if this book is eligible for a return. Email us at social-support@audible.com.

Bill (Just a) | 911 comments I returned a book and I am on the lite plan. I could not do it online but I called the customer service line and they were able to do it. I will give the CS rep high marks on the survey.

The 2 every 6 months rule seems fine for me. I don't return many.

Loy | 13 comments I hate returning books! I return maybe 2 a year just because I just cannot stand the book -- usually it is the narrator

some are so terrible !!!

Jessica (jessical1961) | 519 comments I just returned one yesterday because it was so bad. I actually have another one I would return if I could because it was so poorly written and badly narrated. But , alas, it was gifted to me so it is not returnable, but I won't be buying anymore by this particular author or narrator.

I don't like returning books but sometimes thenarrator is so awful or the story is so unlike the description that I have to. I have returned more than 2 in six months when I called customer service. They would rather have you happy than to close your account.

CatBookMom | 1082 comments I bought The Nonesuch when it was on sale in March. I love the Georgette Heyer Regency Romances, and was pleased to get them on sale. However, I must not have listened to the sample. When I started listening, I found that I really disliked most of the voices the narrator was using.

I was able to return the book from the website, no call needed. There's a new drop-down listing of reasons, which I'm glad they've finally added. I think it's important that they know why books are being returned.

John | 3917 comments Whenever I've talked with a rep via chat or voice they've asked politely for a reason. Usually, it's been "I tried, but just couldn't get into the book."

Jessica (jessical1961) | 519 comments Except for the couple of times I accidentally used my expensive credits to buy inexpensive books the I meant to pay cash for, the only reason I have ever returned a book is that it completely sucked and had no redeeming value.

I always have strong opinions and tell the rep whether they ask or not! Especially when lots of other people seem to love the book.

Wayne Moore | 1 comments I have returned a total of 49 Audible books which is 3.1% of my current 1600+ book Audible library. If a book you purchased indicates "not eligible to return" which usually means you have returned more than 2 books in the last year, either return in by calling Audible customer service or by using the chat feature. So long you are not obviously abusing the Audible return policy there should be no problem.

Only 9 of my 49 returns have been because I did not like the books. The other reasons for my returns include I used a credit by mistake on a Daily Deal or a book was less expensive using Whispersync for Voice or Kindle Unlimited, or I purchased the abridged version by mistake, or the British version of a book was released in the US by mistake and was withdrawn by Audible. So in only 9 cases have I returned a book when I did not purchase the same book again as a replacement. That represents 0.6% of my current Audible library. I've been a Platinum Annual member for 6 years and I typically buy and use over 100 credits per year.

Audible does keep records of returns by each member which the member has access to in the Account Details section. All of my books always show "not eligible for return", but I have never had a return disallowed when phoning Audible customer service. It irritates me a little that Audible does not keep records of reasons for return and that the maximum number of easy online returns is limited to 2 per year without regard to the number of purchases. A person who purchases 12 books annually and returns 2 can easily return those online. I currently purchase over 300 Audible books annually, yet I am limited to returning more than 2 without contacting Audible by phone.

Mahlon (mahlon32) | 2 comments I think the return limit is more like 2 per day before contacting customer service.

message 14: by Jessica (new)

Jessica (jessical1961) | 519 comments Don't think so! I have returned a total of three books since becoming a member over a year ago, and I still have to call CS to return them.

message 15: by Lauren (new)

Lauren (laurenjberman) I've returned 8 books in the 5 years that I've been a member.

I returned 1 because the narrator was simply too awful to listen to. Another because I accidentally clicked the add audio button Amazon and one other because I joined the library and could get it from them (this is also when I downgraded my subscription to Inactive Light).

The other 5 I returned because I couldn't get into the story. On the whole, I've enjoyed most of the books that I've listened to and 2 returns every 6 months is more than enough to suit me.

donna backshall (dtamayob) | 64 comments I return a lot of books, and have been able to do all of them through the site recently, with no hassle at all. There doesn't seem to be a limit, at least not on my plain old one-credit-a-month account. I had to call customer service in the past, but now I just go to the Purchase History page and click return on each one I wish to give back. A few are listed as ineligible for return, but there's always a good reason, like I got it free.
