Anns Bibliotherapy (annsbibliotherapy) | 3 comments Who else has fallen behind on their ratio and what have you done to get it back? I'm in a major reading slump after some health issues and it feels a little overwhelming...

The Sassy Bookworm (thesassybookworm) | 20 comments I am months behind due to health issues. I am not stressing about it. It's the holidays, so I have gone through and prioritized all the Christmas ARCs, and I am reading those. Don't stress yourself out about it. Publishers don't expect that every book they hand out will be reviewed in a timelt manner, or honestly reviewed at all.

Sherri Bryant (sherribryant) | 179 comments I am years behind. My ratio dropped down to 18% and just recently went up to 19%! Woo Hoo! ☺

Jeanne | 9 comments I am at 70, sometimes it goes up to 71 but then back to 70. I rarely request a book, mostly I get widgets. I used to sweat it but I try to keep current and then go back and read some older ones from 2022.

Several years ago I had to take care of elderly family members with end of life issues and I couldn't keep up with all my arcs. I decided to go in and "write a review" anyway on each book I couldn't get around to reading explaining that due to having to be a caregiver, etc. etc....and that took the books off my ratio. I guess you could do that with the "Will Not Be Giving Feedback" method also. I am currently at 87% on NetGalley and I have become very stringent about what books I will request/download. That is because I have been enjoying the delights of my free public library's digital library where they will order every single book I ask for!

Sherri Bryant (sherribryant) | 179 comments Does anyone know to what extent the “will not leave feedback” option affects the ratio %?

* If you have access to a good library, you can get some of those books you haven't read in audio format, and listen to them while you are doing other things. I finished a book from my backlog today while I was standing on a stool fastening Christmas lights to my front window frames.

* Again with the audio: if you request a book in both digital and audio format, you can get through it quickly, and then you can use the same review twice and improve your ratio.

*Request, read, and quickly review these:
art books
cookbooks
children's picture books

Good luck to you, Anns. I think most of us have been there at some point.
