SA Book & Challenge Lovers discussion

This challenge is all about reading book series. This challenge runs from January 01, 2024 - December 31, 2024. All books that form part of a series read during this period will count towards the challenge.

There are no tasks to complete but points will be gathered. You gather points by reading books that are a part of a series. For every book that is first in a series you will get 1 point, for every book that is second you will get 2 points etc. If a series like Discworld has 41 books you can get 41 points for the last book in the series.

The catch is that you have to read the books in order. If you first read book 3 and then book 6 and then book 1 you will not get full points. For every book read out of order you will get one point.

You don't have to read all the books during the challenge. So if you have already read books 1-5 in a series last year or before and read book 6 this year you will get 6 points as long as you have read them.

Series filler books also count (e.g. Book 1.5 in a series) as long as they are 120 pages or more. Each series filler book gets points that are the same as its position in the series (e.g. Book 3.5 counts for 3.5 points) However, they need to be read in order of the series. Any filler books that are read out of sequence count for only 1 point.

Please note: Reading filler books is optional, they will not affect the main sequence of books in a series, so if you read book 4 but move on to book 5 instead of reading book 4.5, you will still get the 5 points.

Re-reads:
Re-reads only count as 1 point unless you are re-reading the entire series in sequence. Example: Book 40 of Discworld only counts as 1 point when re-reading, unless you are also re-reading from book 1 to 39 in sequence.
