Andrew Kane worked with at-risk kids at St. Matthew’s, and they take it upon themselves to take care of Codie after his death. When she arrives at the church for his funeral, the entire school is lined up waiting to show their respect. A scuffle occurs as boys wrestle to be the one to assist Cordie out of the limo. What were your thoughts on these boys and their obvious affection for Andrew and Cordie? How about the way Cordie went to bat for the boys? When the boys stand up to relay stories about Mr. Kane at the funeral, Cordie ends up feeling the need to make a speech to cover for them. Why?

Anita (anitanodiva) | 2953 comments Andrew and Cordie were people who genuinely cared for them, and the kids felt that. They both went the extra distance for them. Cordie didn't want any of them to be in trouble that could ruin their lives.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1203 comments Ditto, Anita. You nailed it in one.

Robin (robinmy) | 2450 comments Agree with Anita.

Sharon Kallenberger Marzola | 3474 comments I agree. They were both positive influences on these "at risk" kids.

Jessica | 156 comments That was a touching scene.

This scene brought tears to my eyes as well as making me laugh out loud as one by one the boys stood up to speak and thus implicated themselves in crimes. lol I loved that Cordie spoke and smoothed it over to protect them.
