Happy Reading!

All the Broken Places looks so good; but after reading the first book, I don't know if my heart can take it.

Nice mix of books.

Good luck and happy reading 📚

Pam (bluegrasspam) | 229 comments I’ve read The Winter Queen, Demon Copperhead, and Cutting for Stone and thought they were all great! I didn’t realize there was a sequel to The Boy in the Striped Pajamas! Added to my TBR. Enjoy!

Kristine | 405 comments Fiona~I really love the books you selected. I loved Demon Copperhead, The Marriage Portrait, and Cutting for Stone. Several others on your list, I definitely want to read. Enjoy your Challenge!

Butterflycager | 38 comments This is a great mixture of books. I've read several of these authors before (Barbara Kingsolver, Alice Feeney, Jane Harper, Belinda Bauer, Kate Atkinson), but not any of their titles on your list. And I didn't realize that Laline Paull had written another book. I read The Bees a few years ago, and it was extraordinary. I'll be interested to see what you think of Pod. Happy reading!

Pod by Lalline Paul

I absolutely adored The Bees so had high expectations for Pod. Took me a while to get into the book whilst I struggled with names. By the end I thoroughly enjoyed - thought provoking around climate change / impact on oceans too.

I've enjoyed everything I've read by Belinda Bauer so far.

message 27: by Fiona (new)

Fiona | 195 comments Eleventh book completed

The Winter Queen by Boris Akunin

Crime set in Moscow in 1876 with a quick trip to the seedy backstreets of London thrown in. Enjoyed the start and the end but dipped a bit in the middle. And I do wish I had kept a note of the different characters

3 stars

message 28: by Fiona (new)

Fiona | 195 comments Twelfth Book completed

Edith and Kim by Charlotte Philby

Was looking forward to reading this having heard the author at Bloody Scotland a few years ago when she was writing the book.
Unfortunately I struggled with it - found it difficult to maintain the thread of characters and timelines. However did make me check out some of the history of Burgess, McLean and Philby. The author is Kim’s granddaughter

2 stars

Whilst in theory I have finished the challenge I hope to read the remaining four books

message 29: by Patricia (new)
