Going easy on myself since I'm having a baby in early January. Not putting any other goals besides reading 100 books. I've kind of given up on reviews unless they're ARCs. I just don't care anymore. lol. I do still want to read diversely!

The little one probably didn't want to deal with the snowstorm. ;) I'll be thinking of you and look forward to hearing all about baby days! Take care and rest while you can!

I had my baby boy, Bastien Reece, on 1/18 after almost 2 days of labor, 2 epidurals, a C-section, a seizure, and 4 days in the hospital. He spent the first 18 hours of his life with his dad while I was intubated in the ICU. We went home on 1/21 and we are tired. Bastien loves cuddling and does not like to be put down so that whole "sleep when the baby sleeps" is very difficult to do so far. lol. But we're in pure heaven.

Oh my goodness! CONGRATULATIONS!! I'm so sorry to hear of your very difficult delivery. I hope you are all doing well now and that you'll be able to get some of that much needed rest. In the meantime, enjoy that cuddle-time!

Karol | 221 comments Elyse, congratulations on your baby boy! I hope you are well on the way to recovering and making the adjustment to being a mom. I found that with mine, I usually ended up napping when he did - at least, whenever I could.

Icy-Cobwebs-In-Space (readingreindeerproximacentauri) | 325 comments My Granddaughter in Spokane birthed her first in late September. I think her labor was +45 hours and C-section. I kept thinking about Princess Charlotte in Victorian Era; and in her (Granddaughter's) case and yours, wondering WHY in the 21st century OB procedures haven't improved???
So thankful you and your Precious One are both safe and healthy now [must have been scary!] Enjoy his cuddliness!🥰

Oh Elyse, congrats on your sweet boy! I am so sorry that was such a difficult birth. I'm so happy you are both better and I'm sending positive vibes for smooth sailing.

Stacie (stacieh) | 1945 comments Yay! Welcome Bastien (I've got a great story for you when you get a little older... a never ending one, you might say...). Momma had a rough start there, so let her get some rest, too ;)

I'm so happy for you Elyse! I hope your recovery is as quick and smooth as can be, and hopefully the little snuggle bunny will let you both get some sleep even if it's in alternating shifts :)

Congratulations and welcome to the world and group Bastien Reece xx

Elyse, how did you come up with the name Bastien? Sounds like the little boy from Never Ending Story xx

Thank you! You bet your bottom dollar it's from The Neverending Story! 🤩 We liked Bast from The Name of the Wind but thought it was more of a nickname and I suggested Bastian which I knew from The Neverending Story movie (80's baby) but we liked spelling it Bastien. Turns out everyone says 'Oh Sebastian?' when we tell them his name. lol.

I gotta update this. lol.

Thank you all!

Hello from the home of a 6-month-old! Bastien is a busy little bee and he's basically on the verge of crawling. Then I'll really be in trouble! 🤣 He's been taste testing solids for 2 months and he loves food, just like his parents! He's a fan of yellow mustard and dill pickles, surprisingly! Anything we can give him to taste, we give him. Banana, avocado, kalamata olive, carrots, apple sauce, sweet potato, soy sauce, seaweed salad (we went for sushi the other night lol), mashed potatoes, cranberry orange muffin, etc etc! He's been to 4 restaurants and was only a little fussy at one.

He can now sit up by himself so he'll be able to sit in a booster seat at a restaurant and can sit in a shopping cart comfortably. He now sleeps in his crib in his bedroom and that's going well. He's fine in there but he still sometimes wakes up in the middle of the night. We've never let him cry excessively so when he wakes up fully, I nurse him back to sleep IDK if that's a bad thing lol. Some early mornings he won't go back to sleep so I bring him to bed and he usually falls back asleep for a couple more hours, we usually get up between 8:30-9.

We go to Moms Club at the hospital I gave birth at every Monday and it's so fun to see all the other babies are different stages and to see how not unique Bastien actually is. 🤣🤣 Everything he does is new to us but so normal for a baby. Two of the babies are crawling and very social, I love it. It's babies up to one year, then you get kicked out. I have an ex-coworker who had a baby boy 2.5 months after I did and we're going to be hanging out.

And the neighbors are pregnant! We spied their trash before collection (lol) and they got the same bassinet we just finished using! Too bad! We're not buddy buddy neighbors like you see on TV lol. But I saw the wife yesterday and she looks like she's due in August/September. So we may get more buddy buddy next year! We're actually in a mostly older neighborhood so having another kid so close to Bastien's age will be great. Guess us introverts will have to break our silence lol.

I have read 131 books this year so far. Someday I will have enough time to update this thread. lol. BUT what I've read is HERE.

Awww I loved reading the Bastien update. I love when babies get to the 6 month age and they are just full of so much personality. I hope you are having so much fun with him.
