Use this Topic to discuss books you are reading or that fit the 1st Scavenger Hunt task.

Task 1: Read a Boxall book using the theme of 24. Everyone’s favorite is back (and probably will be for the next 98 years)! This is your chance to get creative. Here are a few possibilities to get you started.
o 2024 – Chinese Year of the Dragon
o International Year of Camelids (United Nations) – To raise awareness
of the importance of camels and camel-like animals.
o The Roaring Twenties (a book published or set in the 20s)
    o A book with 24 chapters.

caterspotaters | 56 comments I think I'll read a book that takes place in a day (24 hours). This might be the year I finally tackle Ulysses.

Bob Kaufman (bobkaufman) | 680 comments Misericordia by Benito Pérez Galdós, 1/12/24.
Explanation: the main character of the book is Benina. She is often referred to by another character as Angel. In Angel Numbers, 24 is about aligning your heart with your actions, finding a sense of balance and peace, and enjoying the beauty of life. This is definitely a lesson learned by Benina (aka Angel) during the telling of the story.

points for creativity?

Radiant Realm | 20 comments I decided to nerd a little for this one... At the Mountains of Madness was serialized in 1936. (1+9) x 3 - 6 = 24 therefore I have found my 24 themed book. :-D

Ohh, I abandoned that book years ago. Not because I thought it was bad though. It's been sitting on my 'reading' shelf so maybe I'll join you and have the double satisfaction of completing this task and getting it off my list.

If you do and you can handle audiobooks I highly recommend this as a resource: https://archive.org/details/Ulysses-A...

The best reading I've heard.

Yrinsyde | 295 comments I just finished reading We. Wow - what an ending.

message 14: by Sheska (new)

Sheska | 3 comments 1924 is the year when the Surrealist movement was officially established. André Breton was one of its founding fathers and he wrote Nadja. Nadia was one of the main characters in season 6 of 24, and it’s also my sister’s name, so I’m going with André Breton’s Nadja.

Jennifer W | 251 comments In Veronika Decides to Die, Veronika is 24 years old.

The middle brother of The Brothers Karamazov is 24 (at least at the start of the book, I have no idea how long this thing will drag on... lol).

Under the Volcano takes place in a day (I believe).
