****

I find my enjoyment of James Patterson's stories really fluctuates but I was pleasantly surprised by this one. It gripped me really early on a moved at apace until the end. It's shifting focus between multiple characters really kept me engaged throughout.

Fran | 37 comments 2) Witchblade, Volume 2 Awakenings by Ron Marz Witchblade, Volume 2: Awakenings by Ron Marz & Various Artists.
****

First graphic novel of the year and an interesting read. This was a mixture of crime, the supernatural and action. With a couple of short stories, a longer main and then a look at the history of the titular Witchblade and it's bearers which just the gimmick of having different artists for each flashback sequence. It also didn't fall into the trap of our hero solving every case or everything being tied up neatly at the end.

Fran | 37 comments 3) The Beast House by Richard Laymon The Beast House by Richard Laymon
***

A grimy, gruesome B movie of a horror book but an improvement over the last book by Laymon that I read due to a couple of the leads being written as much more likeable than any of his characters in Funland.

Fran | 37 comments 4) Witchblade Rebirth, Volume 2 by Tim Seeley Witchblade Rebirth Volume 2 by Tim Seeley & Diego Bernard
**

A weaker set of stories than in the last volume of Witchblade that I read. The main character seems far less effective and the stories seem to be less focused as well.

**

A collection of tales of misfortune that I didn't find anywhere near as interesting or entertaining as I did when I originally read this years ago.

Fran | 37 comments 6) WWE Original Graphic Novel Undertaker Undertaker by Chad Dundas WWE: Undertaker by Chad Dundas &mixed in Rodrigo Lorenzo
***

A graphic novel covering the key points of the wrestler's in ring career in the WWE mixed in with interludes representing elements of the character's fictional past. This was a unique approach to celebrating the career of the Undertaker. Most of the art was good but there were a couple of instance where it wasn't obvious who some of the other wrestlers included were meant to be.

And with this I've reached the top of Mt. Wychproof. Onwards and upwards.
