Introduce Yourself to the Group - 2024

I'm from Florida, the frat house of the United States.
I like Smut, Historical Romance, Fantasy and I'm getting into Dark Romance but it really isn't my jam. I mostly make fun of the DR MC's for the silly things they do like running after red flags.
I was looking for the 2024 Popsugar challenge and landed here.
Goal is 30 books in 2024

I am Barbara, French from the south. I am currently living in Canada after having spent other lives in UK, Belgium, China and France.
My favourite genres are: fiction literature from any country, gothic, urban fantasy, cosy mystery, some classics, LGBT, a bit of horror, some non fiction.
I found you by fluke, one of the readers I follow here being part of this group, I had a look and found your challenges appealing!
I have been on GR for years mainly to organise my tbr but never explored more of it. Until recently.
Yes, It seems like time changed: the last few months I started to follow some people’s accounts and post reviews, not only ratings.
2024 will be more dedicated to GR’s challenges, I believe!
My goal for 2024: 65 (like in 2023, where I read …80!)
À bientôt!

I’ve an ongoing project on reading all books by Keigo Higashino, and I’ve finished a quarter of his ~100 books so far.
My overall goal for this year is 75.

Best book I read in 2023: The Four Winds by Kristin Hannah

Happy Reading in 2024!

I've been a very lazy reader for most of my adult life and I tried to make more of an effort last year. I read 10 books in 2023, so I've doubled that target for 2024.
I've recently enjoyed reading some graphic novels and also discovered Terry Pratchett so hope to read more of his stuff this year.
I stumbled upon this group when browsing groups and thought it would be good to motivate me to hit my target.
Does anyone have any good reading strategies to share? I'm trying to read 10 pages each morning but would also love to read at night/before bed. I find if I read in bed I just fall asleep and forget what I've read.
Best of luck to everyone with their 2024 challenges!
Cheers!

My name is Emily and I am from Germany.
I´m currently going to university and therefore sometimes lack the time/the motivation to read but my goal for this year are 50-75 books and I´m hoping to find some inspiration here :)
I don`t really have a favorite book genre - if it sounds interesting, I´ll read it :)
I hope you all had a good start into the new year and reach all of your goals (both your reading goals and others outside of books)

currently, i'm having trouble reading anything that isn't a textbook, because my attention span and motivation becomes almost nonexistent when i know i'm not being graded on anything. so, after seeing a tweet about reading apps, i made this goodreads account and joined this group to hopefully improve my focus and finally build new habits this year! ^^
my goal for 2024 is five books, without counting manga or any of my textbooks for uni hehehe i'm glad to have found this group! good luck everyone!

Hi Brooke! I'm a feast or famine reader too. Good luck in moderation.

Welcome to the group, Michael!
This might just be a me thing but I've learned that finding good strategies really is a trial-and-error process.
Since you mentioned reading before bed, how about doing it on the sofa before going to bed? Like in the hour before actually laying down, where you may be watching tv, or scrolling or in front of a computer, sit with a good book and focus on reading for how ever long you set for yourself.
In my opinion, it's really a question of trying what works for you. Maybe you discover that reading at night time isn't for you.
My mornings are usually chaotic, so no matter how much I wish to read a chapter while eating breakfast, my brain won't cooperate, so instead I do it at other moments throughout the day where I can focus.
Wishing you the best reading journey in 2024. I hope you discover some strategies that work for you :)
Best of luck with your goals!

Welcome to the group, Emily! Wishing you a fantastic year where you manage to stay motivated in between all the readings for university work :D

I relate with that statement way too hard! lol. Wishing you the best of luck with your goal in 2024.
Remember quality over quantity is the way to go :)

Welcome to the group Ink!
We're so happy to have you :) Hopefully 2024 will be a great year where you achieve all your goals :)
Have fun, and happy reading -

I joined the group because last year I felt like I either read a lot in a short space of time, or I would not read for weeks at a time.
So to try and make it a more consistent habit, like it used to be, I set myself the challenge of 52 books this year. Due to some fantastic books received this Christmas from some family and friends, it looks like I am going to be off to a great start.
I like science fiction, fantasy, and mystery novels as well as non-fiction about different historical periods. But I also hope to read a few books outside of these genres and hope to find some new favorites in 2024.

thrilled to have you here! Your love for romantic comedy, time-loops, and diverse stories fits right in. Kudos on conquering 123 books last year; aiming for 124 is fantastic! We all understand the NetGalley and audiobook 'problem'—it's a delightful dilemma. Here's to a literary-filled 2024, exploring new genres and creating unforgettable reading adventures. Happy reading, Allison! 📚✨

I’ve been reading for a long time but have only recently got into Goodreads and Bookstagram. I’ve read mostly romance for the last few years but have recently become obsessed with romantasy/fantasy (would love some recs :) ) I found this group through a mutual and thought it’d be fun to join. My reading goal is 100 books, and to hopefully have a few non-fiction in there too!
I’m also looking for more bookish friends, so if you’re interested, feel free to add me on here or instagram @_colereads <3

Even though I love sci-fi, mystery and biographies, I am open to any genre and would like to explore it all.
Stumbled upon this group to keep track of my books and for great recommendations.
My goal for 2024 would be 50 books!!

Favorite genres are: horror, crime thrillers, fantasy, science fiction, true crime.
I found this group by checking out challenges groups and this is the first one that popped up.
My reading goals over exceeded last year as I read more books than what I listed on my GR challenge. So hoping to try for that again this year, but with a challenge group. :)

I read in Dutch and English.
My reading goal is 35, it also was 35 last year but I didn’t made it because I was sick the whole month december :(
But this year I gonna do it!!

"
Welcome Allison!
Tell me about it! Netgalley is fantastic until all your self-restraint goes out the window, and it's no longer that great :D lol
If you enjoy group discussions, I definitely recommend checking out the group read for The 7 1/2 Deaths of Evelyn Hardcastle happening this month :)
Also, Wrong Place Wrong Time is a good example of time loop-ish - Granted it didn¨t really work for me, but it was okay and might work for you :)
Good luck with your reading goals in 2024!
