I’ve started this one and like style and pace.

I was going to give this one four stars but thought the thriller revelation where David Hunter finds himself struggling with a villain whilst trying to escape drowning in the flood tide but engages simultaneously in a Q&A with villain to discover villain's past misdeeds just too unbelievable. Such scenes are all too common in mystery stories. I loved the setting, which took me back to the days when I was sailing with the East Anglian Offshore Racing Association and poking amongst the Essex mud flats. Having the main character as a forensic anthropologist provided lots of fascinating post-mortem anatomical details. Maunsell sea forts also took us back to the days of pirate radio and Screaming Lord Sutch. Most enjoyable but the finish was not quite up to standard. Not sure whether I'll try another in the series.
