Sage put herself in risky situations, despite her belief that Keisha's death was suspicious. Were there any that you'd categorize as particularly foolhardy? Why or why not?

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments I thought Sage was intelligent, resourceful and cool under pressure. I suppose that her idea of getting herself kidnapped wasn't the most rational but she was desperate to discover the truth.

I thought going to that interview with Booker without a safety net (ditching Johnny) and then giving up her phone was really silly. She suspected these people.

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments Giving up her phone was idiotic. I hate to say TSTL because she was quite clever in many respects.

I know. This was the one time I thought she went too far.

lorii (Loriidae) I thought this aspect was the major failing of the book.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments I'm with you here. Her career as a serious investigative reporter would have been over very soon with these kinds of failures.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 849 comments But, at that time, she didn't know exactly how all the puzzle pieces connected. She had already decided to do another kidnap to try to get more information, Ashley hadn't been found yet and she was running out of time. She wanted answers and the only way to get them was to gain access to ask questions. But, giving up her phone was not smart at all.

I was understanding, even though a little shaky, until she gave up the phone. That was a step out of bounds.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 849 comments Not knowing what we knew as readers, I could see why they demanded her phone.
