Alonzo perpetrated this entire scheme for money and a child. Your thoughts about this plot element?

Lauren (laurenjberman) | 2240 comments Alonzo was super creepy.

To me this should have been the focus of the book and not the fantasy kidnapping or the cheerleaders. Nevertheless, the kidnapping for thrills website was believable (albeit icky). Some women need their heads examined.

It would have been a lot more interesting. I eventually wearied of the fantasy kidnappings.

It also felt like his story was rushed until the end. I would have preferred more lead up to the climax.

Charlene (charlenethestickler) | 1392 comments Agreed. I sensed that his background was less than sterling and I wondered how that was missed earlier in the investigative report.

Fantasy kidnappings give me the creeps as an idea, and the guys who would do such things had to give off vibes worse than role playing. Why would any previous "victim" not complain to someone about the whole setup?

One reason would be embarrassment that they were into this type of fantasy role play.

Anita (anitanodiva) | 849 comments Alonzo Garron was truly a strange duck. He was a hero to Sage in her previous story. She trusted him, but was put off when he got personal. His motive for stealing the dancers eggs was money. He had to have lost a bundle when the Mass-General story broke and the malpractice suits made him lose reputation as well. His obsession with Sage was very creepy.
