And, I am ashamed to say I did not seek it out until now to read, despite having wanted to do over 30 years ago.

I am glad I finally read it. And, I think now it is more poignant for me than it would have been back then. The story was very thought provoking, and griping, especially since I work with special needs children. It had me think about my own encounters as a youth, and as an adult. It made me empathize on a new level than I had before now.

Definitely a five star book for me.
