It’s time for the next Monthly Reading Wrap Up! I met my reading goal for the year! Just barely in time, haha. How'd you do with yours? This Month I Read…

Majesty by Katherine McGee- This was super fun, light and fluffy read. I’m enjoying the premise of American Royalty as well as the characters. The drama of everything is of course a bit silly, but for this reason I like it with these books. It’s like The Crown, but fully fictional and more like a soap opera. There are two more books in this series and I’m excited to continue with them.

Wreck the Halls by Tessa Bailey- This one was a disappointment for me. Too much insta love and obsession instead of actual romance. I mean these romantic leads were literally OBSESSED with each other and that was it. I didn’t feel any chemistry or romance between the two. I hated Beat’s overprotectiveness of Melody too. It was so annoying it disregarded the rare cute moments they had. The premise could have been so good, but nope. When the romance in a romance novel just doesn’t work, it kind of ruins the whole thing.

Christmas Presents by Lisa Unger- I listened to this on Audio. This was pretty good. For a short more novella style book it had a few too many characters and things going on, but luckily that didn’t take away too much for the story. It more so felt like there were several aspects that weren’t fully fleshed out. The main storyline felt complete though. There was good tension with the mystery and trying to figure out what was really going on. Definitely kept my interest.

Lovelight Farms by B.K. Borison- I LOVED this one. Something about the setting, story, and characters just clicked with me. I read it in two days (which is incredibly fast for me) not because I wanted to know what happened but because I wanted to escape back into its world. I mean it was like reading a Hallmark Movie in the absolute best way. Someone buy me a Christmas Tree Farm please.

American Jezebel: The Uncommon Life of Anne Hutchinson, the Woman Who Defied the Puritans by Eve LaPlante- This was a hard read. The interesting historical tidbits often got bogged down with context that felt out of place or deep theological arguments. Anne’s story was fascinating and I learned some interesting tidbits about her and the Massachusetts Bay Colony but it was few and far between. Also for a book about Anne Hutchison it felt like maybe only 50% dealt directly with her. Wouldn’t recommend.

A Winter in New York by Josie Silver- This book was ok. I loved the premise and the story, but I just didn’t click with any of the characters. The side characters mainly fell flat and the main character was a little annoying. Like I understood why she lied about having the gelato recipe and the importance of the fact that her mother shouldn’t have it in the first place but she lied about almost everything it felt like. It was hard to feel her romance with Gio was genuine because of all her lies. Also, I never understood why Iris’s Mom and Gio didn’t work harder to make things work? Like their situation definitely could’ve worked out with her on the road and him running the shop. I mean really?
