Kindle British Mystery Book Club discussion

Hi Guys,

It is me David who is admin on here or should I say was.
For some reason I can't explain I have been deleted off Goodreads with my profile. All my books etc gone.
I have tried messaging Goodreads but they are as useful as mud and instead of restoring my account offered forgotten password. As a result I have had to sign up again but obviously I don't have any of my books on or admin on here. If I can't get it back it could be a problem for the group in that I can't do anything. My choices are basically two fold
1) Call it a day
2) Start the group again but will have to change name slightly (as can't have same one) but that means everyone will have to join that. I am willing to set up a new group but would you all want to do that?
Have a think and let me know and in mean time I will see if I can get my admin status back another way.

Cannot the existing two admins add on another admin (or add back on, in this case)?

clarissa left hence I took over. she hasn't been on for years. I have message Bill to see if it let's him do it.

So sorry you have to deal with this mess, David. Whatever you must do, I'll stay with the group.

Fingers crossed Bill can reinstate you. Shame about all the records you've lost though.

I make a backup of my Goodreads data every few months just in case this sort of thing happens. It's on the 'My Books' screen, left column at the very bottom 'Import and Export'.

What a mess! I’m so sorry you have to deal with this, David! I want to remain with and follow the group.

Right Goodreads have final got back to me and said it is a no. They can't recover the account. If it was deleted in error no matter who did it then it's gone.

It is looking very much like a new group at the moment to get the right privileges to do stuff in the group.

Right this is now no good.
I can't add the February group reads to the bookshelf which I expect is because I am not an Admin.

I will have to look to start a new group as this is not going to work at all.

Well I have set up new group and it is called
Kindle British & Irish Mystery Book Club.
I now am spending a week getting things right so if you join now please bear in mind it is just started and I'm adding bits and getting it right ready for 1/2/24 and it will be sorted for start with Feb reads which are up on new group.

Oh I have never read an Irish mystery!

Cooincidently I just read an Irish Mystery. Murder in an Irish Village by Carlene O'Connor.

Don't forget to leave yourself a note to appoint back-up moderators, just in case you need help. :)

Signed up as well. There are a lot of good Irish procedurals. I came across Jo Spain's Inspector Tom Reynolds Mysteries late last year. I read the first one, With Our Blessing and look forward to reading the others in the series.

Will definitely sign up and thank you those that have already put forward some good irish mysteries
