Annie | 424 comments 1. The Invisible Husband of Frick Island by Colleen Oakley. Fun, easy read.

2. The Lost Bookshop by Evie Woods. I enjoyed most of this book but the ending sort bothered me.

3. The Heiress by Rachel Hawkins. Fun mystery, hard to put down.
Susan Meissner
4. A Monster Calls by Patrick Ness. This was a book group pick and I loved it! I went on to watch the movie version after - also wonderful!

5. First Lie Wins by Ashley Elston. Another mystery well done!

6. Only the Beautiful by Susan Meissner. I read this with BookBrowse. Very enjoyable historical fiction - Susan Meissner really does her research!

7. Sipsworth by Simon Van Booy. This one was pure delight! A reclusive widow and a mouse - my curiosity was piqued, I flew through this book!

I really enjoyed The Heiress as well! And A Monster Calls was so good and heartbreaking!

Annie | 424 comments 8. Before the Coffee Gets Cold by Toshikazu Kawaguchi. I read this with one of my book groups and enjoyed it much more than I thought I would. I'm looking forward to reading more in this series.

9. A Talent for Murder by Peter Swanson. I did not realize this was book 3 of a series. Still enjoyed the read and will go back to read book 1 and 2. I do enjoy Peter Swanson's writing style!

10. The Nature of Disappearing by Kimi Cunningham Grant. This was my second book by this author and I enjoyed it but not as much as I enjoyed These Silent Woods! This books was very atmospheric and the author does a wonderful job of making you feel the surroundings. I'll be watching for more by this author.

11. The Library by Bella Osborne. Another book club read - I enjoyed the story, a little predictable at times but a good read!

12. The Rose Arbor by Rhys Bowen. Book club read - some historical fiction, some mystery, and gorgeous cover art! This is the first book I've read by Rhys Bowen and I enjoyed it. I'll keep an eye out for future reads and will probably check out her backlist.

13. Family Family by Laurie Frankel. Book club read - interesting read, loved the characters - especially the children!

14. The God of the Woods by Liz Moore. I really enjoyed this book, the story, the pacing - all was just right!

15. The Cliffs by J. Courtney Sullivan. I enjoyed the historical aspects of this novel. The author excelled on her research!

16. The Grey Wolf by Louise Penny. I love Louise Penny's Three Pines series and this one did not disappoint!

I think I need to get back to this series. I got through the first 6, then allowed myself to be veered away by a fellow reader who loved 1-6 but said they hated #7 in the series.

I've enjoyed them all but, of course, when reading a series there are always some that resonate more than others. :)

Annie | 424 comments 17. The Blue Hour by Paula Hawkins. I really enjoyed this new novel by Paula Hawkins. The mystery slowly unravels and it was a true delight for this mystery lover!

18. The Answer Is No by Fredrik Backman. Quick read - Backman doing what Backman does best!

19. The Night We Lost Him by Laura Dave. A bit of mystery, a bit of a love story, family drama - something for every reader.

20. Three Days in June by Anne Tyler. Anne Tyler writes wonderful books with characters that are so real. Another great book by a great author!

Annie | 424 comments I'm ending my 2024 year at 20 books completed. I was hoping to finish a couple more that I'm in the middle of but just plain ran out of time for reading.

Will see you all in the 2025 threads!
