Here's a tough question....... how do Brian Herbert novels etc. in the "Dune" universe compare to his dad's?

MadProfessah (madprofesssah) | 76 comments The Brian Herbert (& Kevin J Anderson) Dune books are unmitigated crap. Ignore them at all costs.

Robert Kratky (bolorkay) | 41 comments Hi,
I'm just wondering.....I read the initial "Dune" entry about 35 years ago (along with "Messiah" and "Children of Dune") and thoroughly enjoyed the first book. So I decided to re-read the the first three novels in the Dune series. The second and third books lead me to believe that I made a huge mistake! Do the initial entries of Mr. Herbert's saga "not" lend themselves to a re-read? (The word "convoluted" comes to mind). I'm considering avoiding "God Emperor of Dune" and the rest of the series thereafter. Is this a common reaction to Herbert's "masterwork"?

Caitlin | 17 comments A lot of readers loved Dune but were disappointed by the subsequent books. I only read up through Dune Messiah (Book 2).
