The Revenant by Michael Punke was weird...like the novel is alright in a vacuum, but just felt off (not good nor bad) for me.

Yumi and the Nightmare Painter by Brandon Sanderson is a great stand-alone fantasy book in the Cosmere universe, and an explorative take of the author into the romance genre.
